Cream Silk/Velvet Jewelry Box for Pin Brooch - Jaccards St Louis MO | Pink Roses Top
Dating to the early 1900s or so and made for Jaccards of St Louis, Missouri, here's a cream colored paper jewelry box which opens to reveal an area for a pin or brooch. With a cream silk underside to the top, the logo of the jewelry store is present. The base pad is cream velvet. There are no ribbon tabs at the top so you would simply "pin" your gift to the velvet. The top of the box has been decorated with an Antique Victorian paper die cut of a small spray of pink roses - most likely applied at the time of gifting or slightly later. Size of the box is 2-3/8" square; height is 7/8". Nice condition with no tears but age related wear and some slight discoloration - just beauty marks of having survived 120+ years of age! Believe it or not, the bottom of the box is marked "Boxes by Dennison" and has a patent date of 1-97 - that's 1897!! Definitely American Made!
