Art Deco French Ribbonwork Boudoir Box with Rococo Ribbon Trim

Art Deco French Ribbonwork Boudoir Box with Rococo Ribbon Trim

Found in Paris by me about 45 years ago (yep, I'm an old lady), may I offer this early 1900s to 1920s French Art Deco Boudoir Box. In pretty much pristine condition and from a non-smoking/non pet home, this stunning octagonal lidded box starts with a cardboard base which is covered in a pinky-mauve fabric. The cloth is covered in gold lace and edged with a wide cord trim. The top of the box is further embellished with rococo ribbon garland and a pair of handmade ribbon roses. Open the lid to reveal a very clean (though slightly faded on the underside of the lid) fabric lining;the side of the box has a layer of tea dyed lace which is held to the side with more gold cording. The bottom of the box is covered in paper and features the remnants of a paper price tag.

Size is about 11-1/4" long x 5" wide; depth is about 2". That's it, the look of the piece is most pleasing and there is no wear or holes that I can spot. While you can still find boxes like this on the Internet, finding one in such great condition is a bit harder.
