Antique French Ribbonwork Comb and Holder - Mauve Fabric, Gold Lace & Rococo Ribbon Trim

Dating to the early 1900s to 1920s, may I offer this French Art Deco comb Holder with comb. From a non-smoking/pet-free home, the holder is in fine fettle with a covering of pink mauve fabric overlaid with gold lace. Silver colored lace decorates the top section of the holder and French ribbonwork further embellishes the piece. Pink Mauve and Blue florals (with yellow stamens) are set over a large bow. The comb bears only the fabric and gold lace; the piece itself is made of cream celluloid. Length at the base is 10"; width is just shy of 1-3/4"; height is about 2-1/2" to top of comb. The look of both pieces together is most pleasing - there is no real wear or holes that I can spot. Both pieces display all the age of 100 years - darkened patina, dust that has filtered into the fabric and flattened ribbonwork; in other words, a terrific Shabby Chic appearance. While you can still find pieces like this on the Internet, finding one in such a design AND condition as this is a bit harder to find.

NOTE: Most collectors leave well enough alone when it comes to Art Deco vanity pieces. Cleaning could be attempted but I would recommend proceeding with caution. While the lace and ribbon may "perk up" with color, the sugar pip stamens would definitely disintegrate and the fabric might bleed.
