Fabric Silk Purse with Antique French Ribbonwork Trim | Mirror Base

Dating to the very early 1900s, may I offer this stunning French Silk Taffeta evening drawstring purse. With gold trim over a striped French Blue silk taffeta, the main focal point of the reticule is the French ribbon garland in pale pastel coloring with green trim. The ribbon is found on both sides of the purse and is simply the most beautiful SMALL garland I have ever seen. The purse is built over the bottom mirror which sadly has broken in half - replacement is possible but it would mean taking the base apart to redo. Height of the purse from base to top is 7"; width is about 7". The drawstrings to the bag have worn and are on the verge of coming undone. The purse has an interior lining but sections of the interior have worn or torn. The only worn or torn spots on the blue fabric are where the drawstrings meet on the sides - again, some TLC will be needed to bring this piece back to working order. As a display piece though, all I can say is WOW! I have owned this piece for about 40 years and it's now time to say bye bye!
