Art Deco Boudoir Pin Cushion Doll - German Composition | Lady with Blonde Hair
Art Deco Boudoir Pin Cushion Doll - German Composition | Lady with Blonde Hair
Dating to the 1920s or so and made in Germany may I offer this Art Deco Boudoir Doll - Bed Doll - Flapper Doll made of paper mache (or is it composition). In the 1/2 doll style, the lady came with her original pin cushion pillow. The doll's face was completely wrapped in cellophane when I found but upon taking the piece home, the cellophane disintegrated during the trip. Removal of the plastic showed a perfect face but the wool (mohair?) hair has been mussed up a little. The left side of the face has a dimple which shows as a white spot in my photos; the back of the head has a pin hole where a pin was used to tack the cellophane to the face. 4 pin holes to the base for sewing the doll to the padded bottom. The bottom of the piece shows a couple of hairlines and the actual base shows some chippiness; there an impressed GERMANY mark at the bottom. The cushion is padded with batting and has a pull string for loosening/tightening. Unused condition - definitely mint though there is a patina of age to the cushion as it was the only piece exposed to the air all these years.
Size: The doll measures 5-1/4" high x 2-5/8" wide (at the arms). The pillow cushion measures 3-1/4" high; width at the bottom is 4-1/2".
Final Comments: I will ship the doll in the 2 pieces shown and don't worry, it will be carefully packed for transit.
