Occupied Japan Clay Face Santa Claus Christmas Ornament
Blue pants and a silver foil coat? A far cry from the traditional colors of red and black when it comes to Santa Claus figures from Japan. But this happy fellow was Made in Occupied Japan and because of the difference in colors, makes for a very special, very collectible holiday decoration. Santa carries a Christmas tree of chenille and wears papery pants and belt. The trim on Santa's coat, boots, hat and hands is also made of chenille. Santa's beard is of soft cotton batting and the patina to the piece is amazing. A silver cord runs through the hat so that the ornament may be displayed on a tree with ease. The decoration stands about 4-3/4" high. Very nice with a marvelous patina of age.
