Made in Japan Celluloid Toy - Puppy or Pig in a Barrel
Dating anywhere from the 1920s to 1950s, may I offer this dog? or pig? stuck in a barrel. With its paw/legs peeping out at the front, the head of the critter pops out of the barrel. What's interesting is that you can actually push the head down which means the head is on a spring on the inside. Height is 4-1/2" high; width is about 2-1/2" at the center. Original Japan paper tag is on the bottom as well as some ink marks - one which I think tells the date of when the item was purchased. Nice condition, just a small amount of paint loss that can always be touched up. No dents/dings or cuts that I can spot; small top split at the barrel side but nothing you are really going to notice. Absolutely adorable and a terrific display item in a toy collection!
