Antique French Boudoir Picture Frame - Gold Trim w/ Rococo Ribbon Rose Garland
Found in Paris by me about 45 years ago (yep, I'm an old lady), may I offer this Rococco Boudoir Frame to hang on a wall . Made of a stiff cardboard, the outside is covered in a mauve silk over which has been placed gold trim and French ribbon roses trim. The ribbon trim is colored mauve and pink with ombre green tendrils. The original glass is present and to change out the original picture is a simple do, just slide the back claw away from the opening, life and insert. Now the frame is not without its faults - the back cardboard has torn at the top where the ring is located, scotch tape covers a part of the tear and yes, if the tape is removed, the original paper will come away. Also, there might have been an easel at the back or a better hangar to the reverse as there is a bit of ribbon to the reverse. Of course the entire piece shows a lot of age to the reverse, the glass needs cleaning and maybe the inside needs a touch of dusting. Size is 5-3/4" high/wide and depth is about 3/8". In all my travels, this is the only frame I have ever found of this type. Shabby Chic perfection!
