Art Deco Gilt Wood Bookends - Della Robbia Fruit Design
From my personal collection - a pair of heavy bookends from the Art Deco (1920s/1930s) period made of wood (possibly pressed wood or barbola?) with a layer of gesso and gilt brown bronze paint (as well as a touch of color) on a Della Robbia "bough of fruit" design. As you can see by my photos, the bookends are in Shabby Chic condition - chippy here and there, a bump or two, some patchy spots where the wood peeks through but overall, a very fine antique looking pair of book ends. Height is 5-3/4". Dimensions at the base are 8-3/4" x 2-3/4". Felted bottoms that show a bit of wear. Really beautiful pieces!
