Art Deco French Ribbonwork Boudoir Tray with Rococo Ribbon Trim
Found in Paris by me about 45 years ago (yep, I'm an old lady), may I offer this early 1920s to 1930s French Art Deco Boudoir Glass Tray. A cardboard base is covered in a rosy mauve fabric then overlaid with French gold braid, rococo ribbon and handmade - hand sewn ribbonwork flowers. The inside of the lipped tray has a piece of glass to keep everything in place and safe from damage. Although what is under the glass is in very fine condition, the items outside show all the age and patina of about 100 years of age. The fabric has faded in places, stitching has come undone and there are light stains both on the sides and underside base.
Length is about 10"; width is 6-1/4". Depth is a little over 1". In terms of "look" this piece has everything going for it - great design and a minimum of "old age look." These beautiful pieces from France are getting harder and harder to find!
