Antique French Ribbonwork Boudoir Tray with Rococo Ribbon Trim
Antique French Ribbonwork Boudoir Tray with Rococo Ribbon Trim
Dating to the early 1900s to 1920s, may I offer this Art Deco French Boudoir Tray for a lady's dresser. From a non-smoking/pet-free home, the tray starts with a cardboard base and is then covered in a rosy mauve fabric then overlaid with French gold braid, rococo ribbon and handmade - hand sewn ribbonwork flowers. The inside of the lipped tray has a piece of glass to keep everything in place and safe from damage. Although what is under the glass is in very fine condition, the items outside show all the age and patina of about 100 years of age. The fabric is pretty much consistent in coloring and the overall look of the piece is pretty darn nice. The paper base does show light wear and possible staining from having been wet at some time. The original price of $6.00 is written in pencil and the design number is T2963. Length of the tray is about 11-1/2"; width is 6". Depth is 1-1/4". These beautiful pieces from France are getting harder and harder to find!
